Thomas Stillwell and Eliza Fox Huntley arrived with their family to settle the area now known as Huntley in 1846 and purchase large parcels of land. In 1851, the Chicago and Galena Railroad constructed railroad lines through the area known then as Huntley Grove.
Residents in the area soon constructed a General Store as more settlers began to move to the Huntley area. The area remained an agricultural community until the 1980’s.
The 1980’s began a boom of new home construction and a more suburban style of living took over the area. Sun City also began to attract a community of retired adults to the area.
Huntley continues to grow in population and the town continues to attract new businesses and growing families to the community. A Metra Station has been rumored to planned to be built in the future.
